How to succeed with the Primal Blueprint

This is an article by Mark in his blog www.marksdailyapple.com and I thought I should share some of the excerpts

You’ve defined the “what”. If your goal is to lose weight, build muscle, increase energy or just generally look and feel healthier these graphics explain the basics of the “how”.

The Primal Blueprint Carbohydrate Curve

What’ll It Be? The “Sweet Spot” or the “Danger Zone”?

Carbohydrate intake is often the decisive factor in weight loss success and prevention of widespread health problems like Metabolic Syndrome, obesity and type 2 diabetes. These average daily intake levels assume that you are also getting sufficient protein and healthy fats, and are doing some amount of Primal exercise. The ranges in each zone account for individual metabolic differences.

0-50 grams per day: Ketosis and I.F. (Intermittent Fasting) zone. Excellent catalyst for rapid fat loss through I.F. Not recommended for prolonged periods (except in medically supervised programs for obese or Type 2 diabetics) due to unnecessary deprivation of plant foods.
50-100 grams per day: Sweet Spot for Weight Loss. Steadily drop excess body fat by minimizing insulin production. Enables 1-2 pounds per week of fat loss with satisfying, minimally restrictive meals.
100-150 grams per day: Primal Maintenance zone. Once you’ve arrived at your goal or ideal body composition, you can maintain it quite easily here while enjoying abundant vegetables, fruits and other Primal foods.
150-300 grams a day: Insidious Weight Gain zone. Most health conscious eaters and unsuccessful dieters end up here, due to frequent intake of sugar and grain products (breads, pastas, cereals, rice, potatoes – even whole grains). Despite trying to “do the right thing” (minimize fat, cut calories), people can still gain an average of 1.5 pounds of fat every year for decades.
300+ grams a day: Danger Zone of average American diet. All but the most extreme exercisers will tend to produce excessive insulin and store excessive fat over the years at this intake level. Increases risk for obesity, Metabolic Syndrome and type 2 diabetes.

The Primal Blueprint Food Pyramid
For effortless weight loss, vibrant health, and maximum longevity

General Guidelines: 80% of body composition success is determined by diet. Limit processed carb intake (hence, insulin production), and obtain sufficient protein and fat to fuel and rebuild.

Protein: Average .7 – 1 gram per pound of lean body mass/day – depending on activity levels (more at times is fine).

Carbs: 50-100 grams/day (or less) = accelerated fat loss. 100-150 grams/day = effortless weight maintenance. Heavy exercisers can increase carb intake as needed to replace glycogen stores.

Fat: Enjoy freely but sensibly for balance of caloric needs and high dietary satisfaction levels.

Avoid Poisonous Things: Conventional Wisdom’s dietary guidelines promote fat storage, type 2 diabetes, inflammation and obesity!

Eliminate: Sugary foods and beverages, grains (wheat, corn, rice, pasta, breads, cereals, etc.), legumes (soy and other beans), trans and partially hydrogenated fats, high-risk conventional meat and produce, and excess PUFA’s (instead, increase omega-3 oils).

Modern Adjustments: Some modern foods that Grok didn’t eat can still be included in a healthy diet

Moderation: Certain high glycemic fruit, coffee, high-fat dairy products, starchy tuber vegetables, and wild rice.

Supplements: Multivitamin/mineral formula, probiotics, omega-3 fish oil and protein powder.

Herbs, spices and extracts: Offer many health benefits and enhance enjoyment of meals.

Sensible indulgences: Dark chocolate, moderate alcohol, high-fat treats.

The Primal Blueprint Fitness Pyramid
For functional, diverse athletic ability, and a lean, proportioned physique

In short, following the food pyramid, the carbohydrate curve and understanding of the required physical workouts will lead to an extremely healthy lifestyle, an energetic body and a sound mind!

Back to writing after 5 years

I know it has been a real long time since I wrote something. Looking back, things have changed a lot for the better. The last five years have been an amazing time learning new things, growing professionally and growing more as a person.

Now that I have decided to start writing again, there are few key things which I would like to write about. Most of my posts will be related to one of these topics.

1. Entrepreneurship and starting up - the last few years have been spent in understanding how businesses are created, how they evolve and what great entrepreneurs are made of. I have spent time as a founding team member of a startup which grew significantly in numbers and people till the recession decided to consume the whole organization. More about my professional profile here

2. Online businesses, e-commerce, payments and retail ecosystem in India - Most of my experience has been on  payment systems, value added service delivery, e-commerce, new devices ad telecom systems. I will be writing about the exciting world of consumer payments and emerging business areas

3. Golf - I started playing golf from June 2010. This game has completely caught my attention. Thanks to Pankaj Sharma and Siddharth Kapur, my interest in the game has been completely high. I have managed to transform myself from a beginner who misses the ball while swinging his club to driving 250 yards consistently. Additionally, I have also managed to play several courses in Delhi NCR - Noida Golf CourseQutab Golf Course, Air Force Golf course at Chanakyapuri and the Air force Golf course at Hindon. My 9 months of golfing experience included 2 months of rib injury due to excess practice. Finally managed to reach a handicap of 18.

4. Primal Living - Recently introduced to me by my dear friend raj, who writes here, the primal way of living has definitely improved my energy levels, my body composition and I'm sure in a very short while, it is going to lead me to a good lean body structure. The original practioner of primal living has written several articles most of which I am in the process of reading here. The beauty of what Raj has done is taken the primal living fundamentals and applied it to the the Indian context. What he will be about to unravel in the next few years will lead to a billion Indians leading a healthy lifestyle.

So I wrap up my first blog after 5 years by setting the context that I hope will start being informative and a good read.

Cheers

Along life's path --some crap dished out

The ups and downs , the twists and turns
Paths unwinding to infinity.
Carrying surprises along,
some happy some not.

Life warns us of losing something,
warns us time and again.
With incidents changing us,
changing the very self we were,
to adapt to its whims and fancies,

But sadly man realizes ,
these warning signs.
Stays connected to mortals,
fellow men and seducing fairer ones.
All that matters is the journey,
So love and let love go.

When we two parted by Lord byron

When we two parted
In silence and tears,
Half broken-hearted
To sever for years,
Pale grew thy cheek and cold,
Colder thy kiss;
Truly that hour foretold
Sorrow to this.

The dew of the morning
Sunk chill on my brow--
It felt like the warning
Of what I feel now.
Thy vows are all broken,
And light is thy fame;
I hear thy name spoken,
And share in its shame.

They name thee before me,
A knell to mine ear;
A shrudder comes o'er me--
Why wert thou so dear?
They know not I knew thee,
Who knew thee so well--
Long, long I shall rue thee,
Too deeply to tell.

In secret we met--
In silence I grieve,
That thy heart could forget,
Thy spirit deceive
If I should meet thee
After long years,
How should I greet thee?--
With silence and tears.

rotating algorithm cipher....

well this is something I came up when I was pissed drunk last weekend. I know it might sound greek n latin... but ive tried to simplify the algorithm.

imagine a set of encryption algorithms say {a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i}

Lets assume there is a master program that would execute one or more of these algorithms.

assume a disc... let a,b,c sit on the disc. let there be another disc. let d,e,f sit on that one. let there be a third disc. let g,h,i sit on the third disc.

lets say D is the data to be encrypted.

let at time t=0 let disc one start to rotate(whcih means the master program would keep executing algos a,b,c in a time varying fashion)(i could make things complex by including a statement that let the time be influenced by a function...but lets leave it as it is)

lets say after time t = 10 the disc two starts rotatiung ano0ng with disc one. now the maser program operates on the data with two algos... i mean a,e... b,f.. c,g...and so one depending on the relative positions of these discs....

similarly let the third disc also start rotating after say time t = 20 and then the master program would play with 3 algos at a time..one from disc one....two from disc 2 and the third form disc 3...

so the data would be time varying...encryption would become time varying...and the decryptor...first has to knwo about the configuration of the discs... and then synchronize his disc with the encryptors disc... and finally decrpyt the data.

Remember...

each algorithm has its own keys and operational complexities...

this is what i call a rotating algorithm cipher...

end of it.... i cant think where i started ;)

Complex human mind and the existence theory

Have you ever wondered how powerful your brain is. I mean i personally keep wondering about it all the time. Although I am not an biology expert, I always keep thinking of the algorithms that make you live.

I prefer calling them the survival algorithms. I would like to categorize them very broadly as Learning algorithms, Recognition algorithms, and interpretation algorithms.

I am actually surprised at the power of the human mind. Although Scientists all over the world have proposed theories about various aspects of perception..thought...and what not. I would like to give my view on the entire human existence which would probably link the spiritual aspect...(those that were believed to exist ) and the scientific aspect (those that have been proved to exist).

I believe that all creatures on this earth follow a particular equation. And one firm thought is that the number of organisms in this world has always been constant. Well yes i know what ur thinking...your thinking i am a fool..well let me explain. I feel that when the world came into existence there was soemthing that happened that triggered the first living organisms on this planet. and then this kept on growing for ages till it attained a saturation point. Now from that point onwards the number of living organisms have been constant.

Well i dont have statistics to prove that these many tigers dies last year and these many babies were born...and also i would like to leave the part before number of organisms on this planet attained saturation to the other creative thinkers in this world to prove.

See each species has its own characteristics.. its own abitlities , its own communication protocols...its own way of survival. But there is one thing thats common to all species...thats life...let us for now assume its some kind of a battery that powers the entire living system. Let us assume that life is a horizontal in the living systems structural hierarchy. And all species are verticals.

My theory is that the species live a life...and then shift to some other organism and continue to live their life. the mind has various layers. the first layer would be that of the present life. your entire functional system would use this layer for all its data access and decision making. This is the layer that has helped you learn recognize and survive. this is the layer that you realize when you are concious. Now below that is the sub concious which you will not be able to relate to. but some triggers and commans and signals keep arrving from the sub concious to the concious person. none of us speak it out..we just call them intution.

I also believe that by some techniques you could definitely access the sub concious layer. below the subconcious layer is the most protected and guarded layer access to which is not easy. this is the layer that has information on past lives. Our human mind knows everything. We are not sure how to access this data. Although few techniques like hypnotism and regression have proved that this layer of the brain could be accessed.

I also believe that when you die, they say that the soul has left the body. In the sense I would like to put it as the soul( the battery) has been removed from the system and now it exists some where else with the memory of your life zipped...compressed...encrypted..and kept into the sub councious alyer of some other living organism in the world. But remember it exists !!

...to be continued

The best blog I ever came across

For a person to believe it you gotta go n see it for ur self..

My favourite blog

So many secrets...so many feelings...so much of hatred...love..pain ..pleasure and sorrow in this world

Let love go - R.L.Stevenson

Let love go, if go she will.
Seek not, O fool, her wanton flight to stay.
Of all she gives and takes away
The best remains behind her still.

The best remains behind; in vain
Joy she may give and take again,
Joy she may take and leave us pain,
If yet she leave behind
The constant mind
To meet all fortunes nobly, to endure
All things with a good heart, and still be pure,
Still to be foremost in the foremost cause,
And still be worthy of the love that was.
Love coming is omnipotent indeed,
But not Love going. Let her go. The seed
Springs in the favouring Summer air, and grows,
And waxes strong; and when the Summer goes,
Remains, a perfect tree.

Joy she may give and take again,
Joy she may take and leave us pain.
O Love, and what care we?
For one thing thou hast given, O Love, one thing
Is ours that nothing can remove;
And as the King discrowned is still a King,
The unhappy lover still preserves his love.

BullShit !!

Whats happening right now in flex in fronta my eyes is a dude who's been crapping about WCDMA and reciever design for the last few hrs...its bugging...getting on my nerves...well yahoo messenger blocked...so no chat happening...

well i guess this is what you could probably call net stuck..!!

when ur not sure what to do...you hop on the internet...but u cant stop browsing coz you know for sure that ur gonna crash off soon...

Double trouble.....

why bullshit...coz thats what it is...

Jst a thought.... is it possble that tansen could have actually created fire with raag deepak...may be chaos theory and acoustic analysis could probably prove that the engery geneated by a group of artists singing raag deepak gets focussed onto a point where the lamp as kep...still maybe...is it possible...im not sure..

is it possible that chaos theory could explain raag amrithavarshini / raag malhar...that was supposed to bring rain...a myth?? may be not...let see...just a thought

Is Astrology true?

This is an issue i've been wondering ever since I saw what they call "panchangam" in our communities. Its a chart that has all the planetary positions at the instant u were born. Based on that astrologers could fortell the way ur life is gonna shape. Well at first thought i would say this is absurd. But looking at the things written and the way things have shaped, anyone in my position would say its true.

If astrologers know how that planetary positions affect the way you live, what have scientists done about it. These scientists have tried to verify the astrologers' claim and i guess the reason they're keeping quiet is that probably even they believe in it. I would like to asociate a different angle to it. If planetary forces control human existence on planet earth why havent we been able to relate it as to how. What is the missing element?

Why is match-making so popular? How do they try to associate two charts and speak of its compatibility? does it mean that the entire human race is bound by certain patterns of life formed by the permutations and combinations of the planetary positions?

The worst thing that happened off late was this - my parents tried something known as the "olai chuvadi" or rather " naadi josiyam". All you have to do is that you give ur thumb imprssion and name. and based on that the person would pick up an olai chuvadi (for those who dont know what olai chuvadi is...these are ancients writings on leaves about lots of things) and well guess what....its written in that as to what my grand ma's name is...what my grandpa's name is...and plus loads of stuff about my entire family. And you wouldnt believe it...RECORDS OF PREVIOUS BIRTHS...now this is something i did not believe. But somebody gimme a reason why I should not.

Is my life based on the patterns formewd on my thumb. Have these patterns got to do anything with the planetary positions?

I am still not convinced...

Random shapes in void space

I do not know why I'm bloggin today...despite the fact that neuron sucks bigtime and i woved id never blog while at bits...the fact still remains...i am bloggging today.

Gazing at the stars few minutes back...the entire incident flashed in front of his eyes...certain words certain people uttered...certain things that just flashed .the things he had achiheved...the nights he slept in a 10* 10 ft room....was he a failure or was he not...a question that kept racing in his mind...his creation was in front of him...he cherished what he saw..loved it...but something in him said that the child was heading in the wrong direction...he had to do something...he spoke...spoke like he had never spoken before....convinced that the mindset was changed...time passed....he was about to leave...it was time he handed over his child to someone...he trusted them..he liked them...he never told them he did..he never told them he admired them...but he cherished at the way they took care of his child...that was him...finally the day came when they said goodbye...the moment was nostalgic.,..evry moment he spent with the child flashed in front of his eyes....the day when it started walking...the day when the baby wanted to run...the days when we carried it on our shoulders....the baby was rich...it had loads of money...and also people who wanted to take care of the baby jus for the money...we never cared...we loved the kid...for what it was...we wanted to keep the kid away from all these people who wud bring the kid to shame...its probably my last word ill be speaking to the child in person...

I just have two words to say...

Campus Interviews...

Well I know I have not been blogging enough but well there is a reason to it. I need to have some content and Neuron was damn slow.

This season the campus scenario was not as good as last sem. The comapnies like TCS and INFY which were the hopes of getting into the software industry for many civil chemical and mech students took only 24 and 15 students respectively. basically because of corporate ego clash. Wipro was gien the slot before these two companies and they took 115.

loads of other companies also came and took 1/2/3/4/5 whatever..and ORACLE took 15 people. Well on a personal front the first company i attended was TI..and the apti was literally a bits digi and analog quiz with negative marking and hence explains the reason i didnt get shortlisted..plus i didnt have the X factor(CGPA >9.0)...well the next company i wrote was HUGHES...I had 1.5 Hr of techincal interview. It was awesome. finally made it into huges.

Waiting for the second round to begin.
